Two sentences are often confused are the present perfect (have+Past Participle) and the past perfect (Had+P.P.). These two tenses have different uses and you should understand how to differentiate them.
- The present perfect (have+Past Participle) refers to period of time from past until present
this sentence mains that Hatem still living in Amman
- The past (have+Past Participle) refers to period of time that starts in the past and ended in the past before something else happened in the past.
Because the past perfect begin in the past and ends in the past, it is generally non correct in the same sentence with the present tense.
